Our Beautiful World - Green

This weeks prompt at Our Beautiful World  is Green. I took a photo of this amazing plant when we went on a family holiday to far northern Australia in 2010. We drove up to Cooktown, which is named after Captain James Cook, via the Bloomfield Track (link here)...driving the track had been on hubby's wish list for a long time. At the end of the Bloomfield Track is 'The Lion's Den' (link here)...a pub from pioneer times, stopping at the Lion's Den had also been on my hubby's wish list for a long time too. Surrounding the entrance of the pub is this amazing plant, called a Jade plant (link here) which is actually native to South Africa. I'm afraid the photo doesn't do it justice but it looked absolutely stunning.
We were lucky enough to be up there at a time where the landscape was so beautiful and lush. These long horn cattle, which you don't see very often at all in Australia were very happy with their feeding grounds.

We also went on a river cruise down the Endeavour River (which is named after James Cook's boat). On our trip we saw a couple of saltwater crocodiles....a very scary animal!! My hubby is packing as we speak to go back to Cooktown for a boys trip away where they are hoping to do lots of fishing...hopefully the weather will improve before they get there because there is rain and strong winds up there at the moment due to an ex cyclone.
Well, that's enough of my ramblings, make sure you pop on over and check out the other great 'green' photos at Our Beautiful World.
