Our Beautiful World - BLOOM

This weeks prompt for Our Beautiful World is BLOOM...and there is nothing prettier than a new flower. This is a Hibiscus flower from one of our many Hibiscus plants that we have in our garden. I really love the striking orange with the hot pink inner... There are some really pretty BLOOMs over at OBW so make sure you pop on over and check them out.

Framed Flowers...

Hi All, I couldn't get motivated this weekend to make any cards but as I have lazed around all day Saturday and got the main chores done on Sunday I felt a bit of mojo stirring.... As usual, CASE this Sketch was my first stop to check out the latest challenge and Heather's card really caught my eye. I usually scroll through and check everyone's card out but not today! I really like Heather's card, so I just had to 'case' it and this is what I came up with. I love the soft colours, I have mixed sprays & distress inks and I think it has come together nicely. Make sure you pop on over and check out the latest challenge at CASE this Sketch and thanks for the inspiration Heather! As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.

What's on your work desk Wednesday?

I know, I know I'm a bit late posting what's on my work desk but I actually had something to talk about so I really wanted to post this week. Even after my New Year's Resolution, to post on WOYWW  more often, I just haven't been able to get here but I'm here this week finally, better late than never as they say....
On my desk you can see I have an A5 note pad...and there's a story behind it. Last month my husbands lovely Aunty passed away. We were able to attend her funeral which was in another town about 5 hours south of us which meant my husband was able to catch up with some of his family that we really haven't seen in many many years. We spent most of our time with 2 of his Uncles & Aunts. In the process of spending time with them I found out that one of his Aunts writes poetry which I never knew and she uses this size notebook and as I like playing with paper I thought I would buy her another notebook and dress it up.

I have never really done this type of thing before so I'm a bit of a novice...I picked a nice soft toned DP and covered the front and back covers with it, then I placed a contrasting DP and covered the inside so as not to see the folds of the other paper.

I then went searching on the internet for a nice quote about poetry and came across this one. I printed it on a bit of the cover DP and then framed it with a fancy Spellbinder square using some of the inside DP.....added some flowers and some nice quotes that I had in assorted stamp sets and trimmed the edge with lace to try and hide the binding a bit. I'm not sure if it needs a little something else but I will  leave it sit for a couple of days and have another look at it and see how I feel.

So, if you're wondering why I'm rambling on about what's on my desk...pop on over to Julia's blog where you can check out heaps of desks from around the world!! Hope you've had a great week and look forward to visiting your desk....

Our Beautiful World - Rainbow

This weeks prompt at Our Beautiful World is RAINBOW. This photo was taken on my daughters iPhone (which is why it's not the best quality photo) while driving down the motorway. It was really stunning to see and to watch it evolve. I have never seen anything like this before but it was amazing, I think it was the sun shining through the cloud that actually created the rainbow. Anyway, make sure you pop on over to OBW and check out the other great photos and even join in....thanks for stopping by.

Have a wonderful day...

Well I'm on a bit of a roll today, this is my third card and after saying in my last post I'm liking 'quick & easy' here I am with a not so 'quick & easy' card. My friend Robyn told me to have a look at the latest sketch from the team at Cardabilities....and I was sold!! I haven't made a card with my little flowers on it for a while so I was happy to play along. For my colour combo I have taken up the challenge from Inspired by Stamping's by using their third colour combo. The embossing folder I used is a favourite so it felt good to using it again too. Make sure you pop on over and check out the challenges and  thanks for stopping in.

Merry Christmas

I'm back with my second card for today...for this design I have taken up the challenge from CAS(E) this Sketch. I was lucky enough to win these stamps last year and knew they suited the sketch perfectly. I have also used another one of the colour challenges over at Inspired by Stamping. I sponged around the the image with my distress inks again and then spritzed it with a pearl spray which has enhanced a very plain card just nicely. Make sure you pop on over and check out the challenges and join in. Thanks for stopping by...

True Friends....

Hi All, I've been playing around with my Distress Inks & sprays today and using one of the latest colour combos from Inspired by Stamping, I created this card. It was a nice easy card with an old 2 step flower from Stampin' Up and then I just added a few pearls to finish it off...I'm really into quick and easy at the moment. Thanks for stopping by...

Our Beautiful World - Green

This weeks prompt at Our Beautiful World  is Green. I took a photo of this amazing plant when we went on a family holiday to far northern Australia in 2010. We drove up to Cooktown, which is named after Captain James Cook, via the Bloomfield Track (link here)...driving the track had been on hubby's wish list for a long time. At the end of the Bloomfield Track is 'The Lion's Den' (link here)...a pub from pioneer times, stopping at the Lion's Den had also been on my hubby's wish list for a long time too. Surrounding the entrance of the pub is this amazing plant, called a Jade plant (link here) which is actually native to South Africa. I'm afraid the photo doesn't do it justice but it looked absolutely stunning.
We were lucky enough to be up there at a time where the landscape was so beautiful and lush. These long horn cattle, which you don't see very often at all in Australia were very happy with their feeding grounds.

We also went on a river cruise down the Endeavour River (which is named after James Cook's boat). On our trip we saw a couple of saltwater crocodiles....a very scary animal!! My hubby is packing as we speak to go back to Cooktown for a boys trip away where they are hoping to do lots of fishing...hopefully the weather will improve before they get there because there is rain and strong winds up there at the moment due to an ex cyclone.
Well, that's enough of my ramblings, make sure you pop on over and check out the other great 'green' photos at Our Beautiful World.

Birthday..wishing you...

Back with another card for my stamping Saturday, after struggling for a couple of weeks I seem to have my mojo back. Another 'male' orientated card is always good to add to my stash too, they don't seem to be as hard to make as they used to which is good. My layout is from Freshly Made Sketches and over at Shopping our Stash they just want a other stamped image. Make sure you pop on over and check out the challenges...hope your weekend is going well, mine is...

I've made this card with my little niece in mind and I soooo prepared it's not funny because her birthday isn't until December!! hehe... I have used the latest sketch from Fab Friday for this felt like a fun sketch that would suit a child and Lilly is the only 'child' I have on my birthday list. Thanks for stopping by...

Our Beautiful World - ROAD

This weeks theme at Our Beautiful World is ROAD which this photo fits perfectly. The photo was taken just south of Townsville at a very small township called Guthalungra. I think there would only be a handful of houses in this small township and I don't really know why they would have been built, maybe farming...

This photo is very 'Australian' once you travel out of the cities and off the main roads there are lots of these roads going off into the scrub. I'm not sure if you realize what the brown thing on the road is but it is called a cattle grid. It stops cattle from getting off the property where they belong. There is gaps between long strips of metal (sorry I'm a girl, don't know what the proper description is hehe) so that the cattle can't walk across it. Grids save the need to have gates.

Another 'road' not as well used but you can see it there none the less. These tracks were probably made by the graziers checking their fence lines.

A windmill pumping the much needed water that the cattle need.

Thanks for stopping by, make sure you check out the other great photos over at Our Beautiful World and perhaps even join in.

Happy Birthday Tag

I have made another card using the latest sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch. This time I have used some tag dies I got when I bought a stamping magazine (love freebies). This is a nice bright & fresh card...a summery card. I know that most of you are looking forward to your summer but for us in Oz it will be 'winter'...not that we really have a winter compared to what most of you do. After looking at a lot of bright spring cards I thought I would make a tag using this pretty scrap of DP and the other tag is made from some card I had used on a previous creation where I had swiped the card with a lemon ink...perfect match! I'm also going to post this card over at Simon Says where they want you to 'tag it' and Inspired By Stamping has a card & tag challenge too, make sure you check them out and join in.  Well I think will most probably the last card for me for today. I hope you all have a great weekend and until next time...happy stamping!!

Merry Christmas

I'm back with another card for the day...this one is to add to my Christmas stash. I've used the last sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch to create this card. Firstly, I created a background with Distress Inks...Evergreen Bough + Fired Brick, then embossed it with Christmas sentiments. The card has turned out nothing like I had in my mind but that happens sometimes and you just go with the flow....thanks for popping in, until next time, happy stamping.

Happy Birthday

Hi All, I got my inspiration for today's card from Pinterest. Karen had made a beautiful card that I just had to case...check it out here, thanks for the inspiration Karen. I just love how Karen's card is so soft a pretty and I'm sure you will agree. Over at Simply Create Too they are shopping their stash which I have definitely done. I have used a favourite 'Happy Birthday' stamp from Stamp's so old and well loved that it didn't stamp quite right (should of done a practice stamp first), I've used the last of my thin white ribbon, a favourite 'background' stamp from Kaiser Craft and the flowers are out of my favourite Stampin' Up stamp set 'Heartfelt Thanks', oops nearly forgot also my frame is a scrap of coloured card to finish it off. It's always a good feeling to use the bits and pieces up that you have laying around. I'm also adding my card to Seize the Birthday where there is an 'Anything Goes' birthday Linky Party happening...make sure you check both blogs out and join in the fun. Well, I'm off to surf a bit and find another always, thanks for stopping by.
